Watching TV with my son

One of the things that I have spent some time on – a great deal of time – have been watching TV. Sitting next to my son?s bed making sure he?s sound asleep is a time-consuming and, yes, boring task. So whenever he seems to be sleeping I turned on the TV (reading when you have not slept properly for weeks on end did not seem like an option). But man where have all the good TV gone? Most of the series that are on are extremely boring and predictable, CSI just to name one.
Deadwood seems the only exception of this, good stories and well played.
