Hitman: Blood Money

As of lately a lot of things have happened in my life, both concerning my upcoming master thesis and my working life.

Back in June I quit my job as level designer at GuppyWorks. I really enjoyed working there and meet a bunch of very very nice people that I sincerely hope that I’ll bump into again later down the road. And I very much looking forward to seeing the final Hans Christian Anderson game in the stores, but for various reasons I quit the job. Reasons that I will not disclose here, so don’t ask…

Since January this year we (me and my fellow student group) have been talking with IO Interactive about doing some form of “joint venture” in connection with our master thesis. We came into contact with them after we won the Nordic GameJam 2006. They wanted us to give them a presentation of our game at their headquarters and we of course agreed to do it… who in their right mind would say “no” to that?!?

So when I back in January wrote:

The entire GameJam event was a great success and has already created a snowball effect for us that we’ll hopefully be able to capitalize on.

this was what I was talking about.

They really liked our game and our ideas behind it. During more informal talk after the presentation we got talking about what we currently were doing at our university. We talked back and forth about how our project could prove to be very interesting for both of us (mostly to us…). I’m not really sure how much I’m allowed to talk about this (hence this rather information thin post) since I signed a NDA about our project. But all the folks at IOI are on holiday right now, so I’ll have to get back later at tell more about our master thesis project, because one thing I would hate to do in mess things up before we even got started.

But I just wanted to tell about it, since I’m very excited about this and could not imagine a better way to finish my education at the IT-University of Copenhagen. It’s not just a foot in the door it’s both friggin’ legs… So starting in mid August I’ll be sitting at a deck at IOI and writing my master thesis.

And the timing could not be better for us. They have just shipped Hitman: Blood Money and it’s doing great and have just a few days ago unveiled Kane & Lynch: Dead Men which looks very promising.

If you ever gonna need a reason for going out and buying a XBox 360, I’m sure this clip from BioWare‘s upcoming RPG Mass Effect will win you over. I mean… just look at it…

Must. Buy. XBox. Soon.

Update: BioWare has put some very high quality versions of the video on their own website.

This image from the very first scene from the trailer…
